Brooklyn Optimus Prime
"We are here in Brooklyn. We are home."
The 2012 Coney Island Mermaid Parade
Saturday June 23rd, 2012 @ 1PM
Surf Avenue has the best viewing, but the Boardwalk is good too!
Come and enjoy the most fun event in NYC!
Please send your photos to: PeterKokis@verizon.net and I'll post 'em here.
They'll travel The WorldWide Web for all Earthlings & aliens to see!
Photographers: I will make every effort to be in the set-up area on W. 21st street early,
but it really depends on the heat...

Brooklyn Optimus Prime version 2
protected the June 2010 Mermaid Parade.
He only weighed about 90 lbs. then...aaahhh...
So, among the many household items used as parts for B-Prime,
the most 'out there' are four toilet brush holders on his lower legs.
It took me six designs for his lower legs to get them just right!
I am very happy with Version 6; however, he will continue
to receive modular upgrades.
Often, the hardware used to mount & secure an object weighs more than
the object being mounted. All those nuts, bolts, & washers add up,
which is why he weighs 120 lbs.
Behind what you see is a sturdy, redundant structure.
Built to last. Built in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn Bumblebee weighs 145 lbs. because of his tire and door mountings.
Brooklyn Terminator weighs 120 lbs. because of the heavy use of metal turnbuckles.
Brooklyn Ironhide weighs 164 lbs., with much of it in his arm cannons and lower legs.
Every performance is a physical challenge, so please be kind and offer me water.
